15 Reasons Why YOUR Blog Might Suck!

I got an e-mail the other day from Yaro Starak who runs the very successful Entrepreneurs-Journey blog.

I was excited to see the email and thought, wow, an A-List blogger emailing me!!  I was sure this was going to be a good day, at least until I read the title of the email….. “Why Your Blog Design Sucks.”

Ouch.  What’d I ever do to Yaro?  I went from pumped to wanting to kick a kangaroo in about 2 seconds….then I realized that this email wasn’t to me personally but rather to Yaro’s newsletter subscribers.   I was quite relieved, and I decided to let the kangaroos live another day.  :-)  

In all seriousness though, the email was packed full of good information and it put me to thinking about site design and what I love and hate about other blogs so I thought this might make a good post.  This isn’t intended to be as fact filled and helpful as Yaro’s video link but it won’t take you an hour to read and hopefully you’ll get a chuckle out of it. 

Why Your Blog Might Suck!

1. If your theme looks like a Giant box of crayons mated with a 12 yr olds My Space page …then your blog sucks.
2. If U spell lak a foth graduh……..then your blog might suck…
3. If your sidebar looks like a widget convention…then your blog might suck…
4. If you have more ads on your blog than the Superbowl….then your blog might suck…
5. If your posts read like War and Peace….then your blog might suck…
6. If your blog is prescribed by doctors as a cure for insomnia…..then your blog might suck…
7. If the “Most Viewed Posts” widget is empty…..then your blog might suck…
8. If your Alexa Rank looks like an 8 yr old girls chest…….then your blog might suck…
9. If your idea of generating ”buzz” is yet another Entrecard credits contest……..then your blog might suck…
10. If you still use Blogrush……….then your blog probably might suck. (Take THAT Yaro….
11. If your main source of income is your “tip jar” plug in….then your blog might suck…
12. If your blog has more “paid posts” on it than Pay Per Post…….then your blog might suck…
13. If your posting schedule needs a hearty dose of ex-lax to stay regular……….then your blog might suck…
14. If you’re guilty of everything on DayJobNukers “Are New Bloggers Dumb” list…..then your blog might suck…

And finally the Number 15 reason why you’re blog DEFINITELY would suck……..

  15.  If your blog plays music when it loads….then your blog definitely sucks!

There you have it…..The First step on the way to recovery is to admit that you have a problem.  Don’t worry though as the year is young and you have plenty of time to fix whatever might be making your blog suck. 

 Before anyone starts hating….I am well aware that I am guilty of some of these and likely will be again in the future……it’s all meant in good fun so if you can’t take a joke…..then put on your Billie Jeans and Beat It!
