Use Phpbay and Wordpress to Build Niche Sites in Minutes

lunchbag1.jpgEveryone on the planet has heard of BANS ….aka Build a Niche Store software. It is a great product and definitely a proven money maker for those who are interested in making money online via the Ebay Affiliate program.

I use it to build my niche sites and I have had some fairly good results with it. Ebay offers $25-35 dollars for every new customer and at least 50% of the revenue on the sales that you send them. Pretty good.

The only downside to BANS that I have found is that the selection of templates is kind of limited and if you’re not a programmer, (which is me, I am design stupid) then you are limited with what your sites will look like.

We have all been spoiled by having a platform like Wordpress that allows so much versatility and a wide array of plugins that it is hard to use anything else, at least it is for me.

I thought maybe I could implement my BANS shcript into Wordpress as I had heard it could be done. It might be able to be done but not by me, although I admit I didn’t give it much of a try and simply used the templates provided by BANS. I heard that the BANS folks are working on a Wordpress plugin, but patience and me aren’t the best of friends. This leads me to PHPBay.

PHPBay is an Ebay affiliate script that you can use in your Wordpress blog software. It works just like our beloved plugins, which means it is EASY and designed for those who want to spend more time marketing and less time selling.

Wordpress gives you almost unlimited flexibility in your design with thousands of free templates that can be configured easily to your taste or needs.

I ordered my PHPBay Pro software last week and I am still building my first site with it but I wanted to share my opinion, as it is DYNAMITE!

I am rarely impressed with new products, as few of them live up to the hype but I was with this one. I will try to be brief and use bullet points to summarize, feel free to ask me questions in the Comment section if you would like.

Here’s what I like:

  • Price: 39 bucks. Way Cheaper than BANS.
  • Format: Wordpress….unlimited template designs for free and Widgets are a programming dummy’s best friend.
  • Alternative format: You don’t have to use Wordpress, you can use it in a traditinal template as well.
  • Installation: Piece of cake. Download, Unzip, Upload, Activate and put one file in your root directory. Snap.
  • Output: Add Ebay auctions to your posts with the push of a button….yes….one click and you’re done.
  • Options: Wide range of configurations for your output, keywords, # of items, seller, category, etc. Way better than previous Ebay scripts I have seen.

Here’s what I don’t like:

  • I didn’t find it sooner.
  • In all seriousness, that’s all I can think of as I haven’t found a single meaningful downside to it. It functions flawlessly and was easy to install. I will come back and update this article as I build more sites with it if flaws show up but I think that it has been through enough upgrades that the bugs are worked out.

Once installed and setup all you need to do in order to add auctions to your site is to create a post and in your WISIWYG screen you will have a button that you hit to add a script to the post. You can enter your keywords, categories, quanity etc right there on the screen and Publish. That simple. Here is a simple example of a search for Ipods on Ebay, I requested that it return 3 items. This took about 3 seconds to do.

It really is that simple so I don’t know what else I can say, if you are looking for an Ebay affiliate script and you want the freedom and flexibility that WordPress has to offer then I would highly recommend the PHPBay script. It is worth every single penny.

You will still have to do some work researching the niche that you use and you may want to check out my “Hunting the Perfect Niche Site” post as it will give you some ideas on keyword research, but at least the programming will be a snap if you use phpBay and Wordpress.

You can click on the pic below and it will take you to the site where you can buy it and if you have any questions at all then feel free to ask and I will give you an honest answer.

Yesterday you mentioned to me in the Warrior forum to read your new article today on phpBay Pro on your blog here, because I was undecided about whether to purchase BANS or phpBay Pro.

I enjoyed the article very much, and I think I will be buying phpBay Pro. It is 58.00 cheaper than BANS, which for those of us having to watch our pennies, is very important. When you are having to watch what you spend, buying an expensive piece of software, doesn’t leave you money to market and advertise your website.

Also, a blog store is less like an affiliate site, than the BANS created sites, In my opinion. Now when the creators of BANS design and make available a Wordpress plugin to create stores, I will really be interested.

The BANS software does however make it super easy to build a store, according to all those who have used it.

    Regards,
    Debbie G.

@Debbie – If you have any specific questions on it feel free to ask. My article is kind of simple in regards to it, but it really is that simple. If you, like me, prefer Wordpress then it is a much better choice than BANS in my opinion. I use both but I could see myself leaning towards this script very easily.

    Thanks,
    Bill

I have been thinking about getting BANS, but this sounds good too. I’ll have to check it out.

@Bethany – You won’t go wrong with either…the BANS works great too. I prefer using Wordpress simply because I am not that great of a programmer but with Wordpress I don’t have to be.

You can build some great sites with Bans too….you just don’t have all the plugins that make life easy with Wordpress. If you have any specific questions though, feel free to ask.

thanks for this info. I am thinking of getting BANS but i think it’s a bit pricey for me and yeah, i am a dummy programmer. I think i’ll get this one, cheaper plus I am already comfortable using Wordpress.
    Cheers!
