Along with Feeds, there is also merit in allowing email subscriptions. Till date, a lot of people are still more familiar with that method. This applies to people who are using internet more for searches and emailing.

Hi,
Nice post. However you forgot the issue of wordpress.com vs wordpress.org. The free hosted wordpress is wanting in terms of making money from your blog. newbies like me will often not want to self-host. When the newbie eventually pulls off the first 5000 pageviews and has a hang of it, he/she has a different problem on . No adverts, no affiliate links, no monetization.
