The rumors had started to fly around the blogosphere of a pagerank update in progress and lo and behold but what do I see this morning…..my humble little blog has been granted a PR2!!
The last update was sometime in October and created a HUGE stir around the blogosphere as this was the first time Google decided to punish those blogs selling text links without the nofollow attribute.
This update was much anticipated and almost dreaded by some as the PR slap from before significantly damaged some blogs.
Now don’t get me wrong, this PR2 is really nothing to crow about at all compared to the bigger blogs but for me being only a month old, it makes me feel good. It won’t change my strategy yet, as for now I am only concentrating on building traffic, building subscribers and building my content.
Blogging is not my primary Make Money Online strategy as that is building niche websites but I enjoy it and maybe long term it will take over the income I make elsewhere.
This has been a good week for my little blog.
- Alexa is on the move upwards and looking better.
- My affiliate income from this blog only was $150 dollars for the week.
- I opened my first contest, a small one, but it’s a start, good response so far.
- RSS subscribers are growing.
- And finally a PR2 with little to no effort on my part to attain it.
You might ask why PR even matters and why that makes me happy.
Good question, my online “empire” that I am trying to build is intended to be passive income. By passive income I mean I want to build sites that require little to no upkeep other than the occasional tweak and they generate money. A blog as you all know is a LOT of upkeep sometimes but if paid posting is your primary source of income then not only does it require even MORE posts to earn money, it junks up your blog with garbage posts.
My intention to monetize is to build traffic and use affiliate income as well as private ad sales to monetize the blog, this to me seems to be more in tune with my goals. Pagerank comes into play with advertisers, your pagerank and your Alexa are badges of honor and they will pay more for ads on a high pagerank, high traffic blog than they will one with a PR0.
It might not be right, but it’s true. My goal with PR in the short term is to achieve a PR4….which is obviously very possible at this point. If you want to check your own then here is one of the many sites you can do that.

that is great, you’re doing good, 150$ a week is good too, which affiliates are u using?
I use a lot of affiliates but the 150 this week was two Hosting account sales and 3 phpBay sales. I also have a couple of pending payperpost signups but those will take time to pay and will only pay if the signup goes on to become a payperposter.
In last couple days, I’ve seen huge number of blog posts about Google PageRank. However, none of those posts have URLs to tools, which they’ve used for determining their PageRank.
In past, I’ve couple times done search for those URLs, so I know that some sites claim that they can dig it up, but I don’t fully trust any of them. Some claim that pagerank is not available for my sites, some say that my blogs are PR0 and some claim that they are PR3.
There is a difference between Page Rank Predictors and your actual pagerank. Some sites are better than others but I assure you that the PR that I am seeing is the real pagerank.
If you want to know yours or check mine all you have to do is install the google toolbar….you can see the PR for any site you visit in an instant.
It’s not real important to most but if you’re the curious sort like me then you might like it.

my blog jumped from pr0 to pr5 and it has just few posts! At first I thought there was some error, but then I realized that all my blogs have bigger PR than before update. One of them jumped even from PR0 to PR7! Maybe I should publish some e-book about how to boost page rank for dummies or something…

Actually, I dropped to a PR of 1, but i guess deserved it, stopped blogging on my personal site as I was busy doing up another site.
