Interview with Mark at 45n5.com
Hey all,
I am trying something new for my blog and that is an interview post. I have asked Mark at 45n5.com to share some of his wisdom and background in blogging with us. Mark runs the very popular blog 45n5 and you are probably already know him for his Top 100 Make Money online list of blogs.
Mark, as many of you know, is partial to video blogging so I am going to post a video that he has made in response to some of the questions that I had for him. I am a fan of Mark and his blog and if you haven’t had the opportunity of checking out his site then you are missing out.
Mark has another new project that may be of interest to both advertisers and bloggers and that is Show Your Ad Here. It’s an easy to use ad serving program that allows you to sell ad space on your blog with a minimal of maintenance on your part. I have been using it for just a few short weeks and have already sold out most of the spaces on my blog a few times.
If you are considering selling ad space on your blog then check it out today. It’s easy to use and has almost NO maintenance once you set it up. You won’t have to interact with advertisers or handle any kind of code or banners. The software does it all for you. It’s a great program and I love it.
Check out this video blog and let me know what you think. I am curious what everyone’s thoughts are on video blogging. Do you like it, hate it or indifferent to it?

Thanks for the interview

Hey Mark….I appreciate you doing the interview and I wish you luck with the Show Your Ad Here project. The more successful it is, the better for all of us.
I love this format. I think you should do some more of it! It’s a lot more personal than just text! Great post.

@Erica – Very few bloggers have adopted video blogging. If you want to see a good example of one who does a LOT of it then check out Mark at 45n5.com. That is him in the video and he uses it daily.
I really like this as well. Now, I’m going to ask the stupid newbie question of the month, Bill. Does using showyourad get a slap from Google as well?
Tamera’s last blog post..Personal Development- The Abyss
@tamera – showyouradhere ads are served with javascript, the same way that adsense serves their ads. There are no guarantees in life, but I don’t see google ever slapping javascript served ads.

I really don’t understand then what Google slaps, and why. I wish I understood this. Why do they slap PPP, etc? What in the heck is the difference for Google between javascript served ads, and anything else? Why, Why, Why????? *screaming and crying*. lol ;o)

when a link is javascript only the javascript shows on the page, click view->source to look
however text-link-ads/ppp/etc use regular links that are paid for. Google doesn’t like regular links that are paid for, but seem to be fine with javascript links.

Mark is so smart.
I have another question for you Mark….a javascript link shouldn’t pass any pagerank either right? Therefore no need for any kind of a nofollow if that is even possible.
@bill – Following googles lead I would say nofollow is not needed, like they don’t nofollow their adsense ads. but nothing is certain.

I’ve been following 45n5 for a few weeks now. I think what is best about the video blog format is it’s much more personal. You have a face to go along with the blog. You can see the person who is giving the advice and it is super valuable in establishing trust. Nice job guys.

Thanxs for the tip on Show Your Ad Here, will look into it. Also this is the first discussion i’ve seen on ads as far as javacsript being the factor. I thought it was the nofollow tag which made big G happy.
But from what i now understand is that using either one is good.
