Thank you very much!
I'm still trying to figure this all out, although my business has always had an independent website.
Your statement about my goals, search engine traffic, and PR, really clarified for me. An important bit of my puzzle just fell into place.
Thanks for your help. I appreciate your honesty.

@Tamera- Ok I understand your question now. Yes I think their is no doubt that Google will punish a site with a PR slap if they routinely engage in paid posting.

The question you need to ask is PR or search engine traffic important to your blogging goals.....if not then you really have no need to fear the PR slap but if they are then I would not take the risk.

Some sites seem to be able to avoid it while others get busted all the way to PR0. Hard to figure out Google's algorithm but no question they frown on paid posting.

Sorry for my choice of words (my brain flips between two languages). Since these subjects are your niche, I figured that you had knowledge as to if this was true, or not. If it has really happened.

It's not always easy being a new blogger. There is A LOT to read out there, and many things that are stated, vary.

@Erica...at a PR5 you might have some clout there....if you can get your Alexa down to the 100k range then you could easily make a couple hundred bucks a month in the short term and long term who knows.

@Tamera - I am not sure what you mean by my opinion....I believe that Google does penalize blogs who use paid posting if they find out about it. The sheer number of PR slaps handed out to those selling links and those engaging in paid posting is undeniable.

I don't have a strong opinion of it other than Google could have been more pro-active in letting people know that they frowned on this process. Otherwise it's kind of their system so they can set the rules in my opinion.

What is YOUR opinion?

What is your opinion on discussions I've seen about PayPerPost, etc. affecting PR?

Thanks for the update. My eventual goal is private ad sales as well, as it seems to be the most consistent and "safest" form of income. Thanks for the advice!
