I am going to ask you all to be very kind today. Think of me as this poor blind dog in the picture above, would you make fun of him? Ok maybe that is the wrong question to ask this group, bloggers tend to be a tough crowd.
I am intrigued by the topic of video posting and I decided I wanted to try it for myself. I have also been experimenting with Camtasia for use on my BloggingEssentials site. Videos will play a big part of that site’s future so I need to learn how to master it.
I did learn one thing, I have a lot to learn.
This is my very first attempt at making my own video. I recorded it, saved it somehow (still not sure how I did it but it seems to work), uploaded it to YouTube and have it posted here. It came out ok for a newbie, I have some weird zooming that takes place in this version that wasn’t there in the original so maybe some of you can offer some advice there.
I will also need a microphone if I intend to do anymore of these as the sound quality is not so great. I am happy with it for a first experimental video but it has a long way to go before anyone mistakes me for Mark.
It’s a simple little video on photoshop and adding the effect that I do on my pictures. It’s pretty easy so I won’t expect you to get much out of the tutorial itself but maybe I am wrong. It was more of an experimental post for me which is why I ask that you be kind.
If you don’t have Photoshop Elements then I have an old, used copy that I am willing to give to someone who comments on the post. I will pick someone at random assuming that anyone is interested at all. It’s Version 4 and I upgraded to 6, it might be a couple of versions old but it still works fine for the majority of what any of us would be doing with it. I am pretty sure I have the box and documentation for it too.
Video Blogging? Is it going to take over?

I’ve been fighting with Paint Shop Pro lately (it’s gone very screwy!)…I’ll gladly take a copy of Elements off your hands!
Erica B’s last blog post..And oh, BY THE WAY?
Great post! I love Camtasia Studio- there’s so many useful features, and I think it’s really easy to use. I’m glad to see others are appreciating it as well!

Hey Bill, nice job.
43rd try??? not bad, you just became a vlogger! I have photoshop thanks to a very special person in my life, I used to use paint shop pro. (give the copy to Erica) I dont know her but it would be a huge boost for her as Paint shop and even the pro version dont really cut it.
just my two cents.
I have had photoshop for about a month and I legitimately learned something through your little video, so thanks.
Keep the videos coming!

@Erica – “So easy to Use”…ya had to stick that in there huh.
@Landon – My wife was a die hard Paint Shop Pro user and wouldn’t consider using PShop until I finally bought a new copy of it and showed her some of the features. Photoshop is head and shoulders over Corel.
I am going to do some more of these videos but not until I can produce one that I am happy with. I posted this one despite it’s flaws simply because I was trying to learn something.
I haven’t tried a video blog post but i must say congrats for giving it a shot.
EricaB looks like you are the only one interested. Send me your name and where you want it shipped to via my contact page and I will send it out this weekend.
Thanks.
Bill
Bill we have to get you a microphone. The static was annoying… honestly I couldn’t finish watchin…
I started tinkering with CamStudio a few weeks ago. I think it’s the free version of Camtasia. There was definitely a learning curve involved with using the software. I believe it took me 50 tries to finally get everything synced how I like it. You can’t be a good screen caption video for tutorials though! Well that is assuming that you have good audio.

@KJ – What? Couldn’t hear you.
Agreed 100 percent.
I bought this headset.
It works really well with a nice case for portability. Slips right nice into my laptop bag and everything. It’s a little expensive w/ the $50 tag, but well worth it and I highly recommend it. If your interested in hearing what a video sounds like using the headset I did one on RSS and Netvibes using the headset a while back.
