Chances are yes they are taken and some bozo has loaded up a parked page with garbledygook adsense ads OR they have purchased the domain with the sole intention of reselling it for a higher price. In either case you will have to search high and low for a decent .com name these days.
Either of these scenarios are frustrating and both of them leave most of us with few options in regards to the domain names we select for our sites. Dot Com is practically untouchable and .Net and .Org aren’t far behind. So what are you to do? Well, read my article and I will let you in on a little known secret.
You can find expired domain names or soon to be expired domain names and put them on backorder at NO charge. Pretty cool right, well keep reading because we’ll show you how it’s done.
First check this website out. You may or may not recognize Network Solutions as one of the largest domain registration sites on the web. Shocking to find that the world doesn’t revolve around GoDaddy…..I know.
Let’s take a look and see an example.

If you go to the link above and type “money” into the pending domains box you will find a list of all of the domains that have either recently expired or are getting ready to expire that contain the word money.
If you find a domain that you like then you can place it on “backorder” for no charge up front. You have the opportunity to place your ”bid” on the domain name when you backorder but you don’t have to pay anything at that point. Once the domain does become available it will become yours assuming you were the high bidder. In many cases you will be the only bidder but you want to bid appropriately depending on how badly you want that domain.
These types of lists get followed pretty regularly by some heavy hitter domain registration groups so the competition is tough for something like “MakeMoneyatHome.Com” but some of the smaller and more clever domains become available every day.
The smart “netrepreneur” will be there waiting. It’s like digging for gold….you have to dig through a lot of dirt to find a diamond but when you do it’s worth it.
